The XVI GENERAL CHAPTER
of the Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles
The day's reflection focused on three main themes: Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC); Child Safeguarding Policy, and Mission and Vocation Animation.
We reflected on possible ways of availing ourselves as Women Apostles of JPIC.
Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation was on the priority list of the previous Chapter (2008), and so it became necessary for us to review and ruminate on how communities have committed themselves to JPIC issues and what more needs to be done.
Our mission to safeguard and protect the right of children is an area closely linked to JPIC. Sr. Mary T. Barron, OLA, gave an inspiring input on; "Being Prophetic Religious in the context of Child Abuse". We were enlightened on the various forms of child abuse, and felt the need to create awareness of such abuses and their consequences, so as to effectively fulfil our mission in this respect, as consecrated women.
Another subject that generated a lot of discussions and sharing was our commitment to Missionary and Vocation Animation, which we all felt the need to launch out and do more in propagating the missionary dimension of our Charism.
